SHAREit is a cross-platform mobile sharing app with a variety of useful features that allow you to quickly and easily send and receive files of different formats. It’s faster than using Bluetooth, and it’s free, so this app has all chances to become your go-to sharing option.
Design and Usability 8/10
SHAREit features a surprisingly complex interface for a sharing app. There is a full-blown feed with an impressive variety of funny videos and other entertaining things that the app wants you to discover. But the thing is, you don’t need any of these to send or receive a file via SHAREit – all you need is two small buttons named Send and Receive. Just click the corresponding button, and the app will get you through the process almost automatically. The only serious problem is the ads: there are so many of them it starts being annoying pretty soon.
Key Functions 9/10
SHAREit has a variety of features, but most of the time, you will need just a couple of them, namely the options to send and receive files. The Android version of the app allows you to send just about any file you have on your mobile device, so click the Send button, choose the location of a file, and the app will send it to other users you’ve established a connection with. Transferring files this way is said to be a much more effective method than using Bluetooth – files get sent about 200 times faster, and there are almost no connectivity problems.
Receiving files is just as easy. First of all, you need to connect your device: just tap the Receive button, and the app will create a special network that other devices can find. Then the sender approves that the files are being sent to the right device, and the process starts. What’s great about this method of files sending is that neither of devices has to be online – the network is completely offline, yet it allows you to transfer files as quickly as 20M/s. However, there is an option to download files from a cloud, and a variety of services is supported, including Google Drive, OneDrive, and others.
Security & App Purchases 7/10
SHAREit is completely free, but there’s still a price to pay. The app is full of obnoxious ads that appear just about everywhere, including the settings menu. You can’t even skip them, so prepare to spend time now and then, looking at awfully annoying ads for what seems like an eternity. However, the app seems to be quite secure and effective: you don’t even have to be online to use it, so there’s no chance it misuses your data.
Conclusion
Simple and effective, SHAREit provides you with a quick and secure way to send and receive files, and you don’t even need to be online. The only real problem with this app is that there are just too many ads, and I’ve probably never seen them be so annoying and time-consuming.
